![]() Analytical tools such as SolTrace and Flownex and solar resource measurement as an important tool in experimental work are discussed. ![]() Turbochargers are micro-turbines from the motor industry which are relatively inexpensive and can be applied in this small-scale solar cycle. A reflective solar dish concentrates solar power onto a solar receiver which heats air for a micro-turbine to power an electric generator. Significant results and the merit of the cycle are discussed. A summary of the methods and tools used for the analysis and testing of the cycle is given. Testing and analysis is required to make the dish-mounted solar thermal Brayton cycle successful. The small-scale dish-mounted solar thermal Brayton cycle using a micro-turbine is a technology with a lot of potential which has been studied in recent work. More efficient solar-to-electricity technologies should be investigated. ![]() These countries are also faced with a serious electricity crisis. Countries such as South Africa and Botswana have a very good solar resource.
